Dunaway Brothers

The Dunaway Story: Two Brothers, One Big Leap Part 2

Dunaway Brothers story Part 2

Every business faces challenges.

The real question isn’t whether they’ll come. It’s how you respond when they do.

When David and I started Dunaway Brothers, we knew there would be long days and hard work. What we didn’t know was just how many obstacles we’d face in the years ahead.

We learned quickly that running a business isn’t about avoiding storms. It’s about learning how to move through them.

Not long after we started, the housing market collapsed.

The 2008-2009 housing crisis tested businesses across the country. Like many contractors, we had to adapt, work harder, and make difficult decisions. Giving up would have been the easier option.

But quitting was never part of the plan.

Over the years, we continued to face new challenges. We worked through changing markets, shifting customer needs, and eventually a global pandemic. Then, as businesses began to recover, another changing economy brought a new set of obstacles.

Every season looked different.

Every season taught us something new.

One lesson has stayed with us from the very beginning.

Sometimes the fastest way through the storm is to turn directly into it.

That mindset has shaped how we lead our company, serve our customers, and approach every challenge.

By the grace of God, a willingness to keep learning, and a determination to never give up, Dunaway Brothers has continued moving forward through every season.

We don’t claim to have all the answers.

What we do know is this:

Hard work matters.

Faith matters.

Integrity matters.

And every difficult season has made us stronger than the one before.

Looking back, we’re grateful for every challenge because each one helped shape the company we are today.

Next week, we’ll share the values that continue to guide everything we do and why we call it The Dun-a-way.

Built the Right Way. The Dunaway.

Next Week: Part Three: The Storms That Built Us. More Than a Company. A Family.
